Joe Biden Campaigns for Abortion Rights in Florida: A Battleground State under Republican Control

US President Joe Biden is campaigning in Florida, a state that has been dominated by Republicans in recent elections, focusing on the issue of abortion rights.
The Supreme Court's decision to strip the federal right to abortion under former President Trump's presidency has sparked voter interest and rallying in the conservative-leaning state.

Despite Florida's Republican leadership, Biden believes this issue could resonate with voters.

Trump is scheduled to attend his trial for hush money payments in New York on Tuesday, preventing him from campaigning for his White House bid.

In Florida, the state supreme court recently upheld a six-week abortion ban, set to take effect in May. This ban could be overturned through voter approval in November, as a state measure to protect abortion rights will also be on the ballot.

Since the Supreme Court returned abortion regulation to the states, 21 have enacted bans or severe restrictions.

However, abortion rights have been upheld every time the issue has been put to a direct vote.

Campaign spokesperson Julie Chavez Rodriguez believes that winning Florida for President Biden is challenging but achievable.

She accused former President Trump of hoping voters will forget his role in women's issues.

Biden, a Catholic and abortion opponent, has clashed with Trump on this matter, facing pressure from both hardline Republicans and moderate voters.
