Australian PM Urges Men to End Violence Against Women: 'Show Respect'
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese called for men and boys to take responsibility for ending violence against women, following the murder of a 28-year-old woman in New South Wales.
Albanese stated that his government would take action, but emphasized the need for men to address the underlying causes of violence.
So far in 2024, 25 women have been killed violently in Australia, including five in a shopping center stabbing spree in Sydney.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese expressed his concern over the high number of women killed by people they know each week, calling it "unacceptable." He urged men and boys to have discussions about respecting women and ending violence against them.
Albanese acknowledged that the issue is a crisis and his government has already allocated extra funding to create safe places for women.
However, he did not declare violence against women a national emergency.
